If there were ever a time to BRING IT, sartorially speaking, the Met Gala red carpet was it. This is not the event to play it safe with a simple slip dress or traditional gown.
Every year, the Met Gala, hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, has a theme and each attendant is expected to don a LEWK inspired by said theme. This year’s theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” called for ensembles inspired by the relationship between handmade and machine-made garments.
Now that you have a little background behind the event, take a look at my favorite looks from the night. (I “judge” based on how well attendees follow the theme. Why wouldn’t you have fun with fashion, especially on a night when the wild and wacky are celebrated?!)
Another belated red carpet post, I know, but I cannot just ignore the mega fashion event that is the Oscars. No surprise, Emma Stone wore yet another stunning look, and Keira Knightley continued her streak of ethereal pregnancy dresses in a flowy Valentino number. Here are some of my favorite looks from the Oscars 2015 red carpet.
She’s the most fabulous OBGYN on television. Her recent red carpet choice was not revolutionary, just a sartorially savvy choice. Her book is laugh-out-loud hilarious (as is her show), and Kelly Kapoor’s one-liners will forever be some of my favorite quotes. Bottom line: Mindy Kaling is awesome. If you need further proof, just watch this interview from Jimmy Kimmel.
The final red carpet of awards season did not disappoint. I love the Oscars because all the stars (and stylists) really step it up in the garment department. Here are my top 10 favorites from last night.
I wasn’t majorly blown away by the looks at the Grammys last night. J Lo for some reason felt the need to pull an Angelina and just came off looking silly. “The leg” is so 2012. Plenty of stars kept it classy though, Rihanna being one of them, surprisingly. My girl Taylor Swift continues to knock it out of the park with her red carpet style. Here are my favorite looks from last night.
And so it begins: awards season. First it was the People’s Choice Awards, now the Golden Globes. I have to say, I had a hard time making my best dressed list. Just about everyone looked fabulous (although I’m still not sure how I feel about Jessica Chastain’s look.) Here are my top 10 favorites from last night.
Anne Hathaway is seriously on a roll with her red carpet choices especially here, in Chanel.
Emily Blunt I think was my favorite of the night in Michael Kors.
Jennifer Lawrence was made to wear red as evident here in Dior Haute Couture.
Naomi Watts was the epitome of elegance and class in Zac Posen.
Taylor Swift stunned once more with her new grown-up look in this gorgeous eggplant Donna Karan Atelier.
Julianne Moore was anything but dowdy in custom Tom Ford.
Hayden Panettiere looked sweet and sexy in Roberto Cavalli.
Amy Adams was perfection in Marchesa.
Sienna Miller took a well worth it risk in Erdem.
Marion Cotillard in what else but Dior? She wears simplicity well.
