Lately, I’ve been really interested in acquiring classic clothing with unexpected details. Tassles, ruffles, pom poms, fur, embroidery, fringe — I want it all, on every piece of clothing I own. Continue reading “fall wish list”
If there were ever a time to BRING IT, sartorially speaking, the Met Gala red carpet was it. This is not the event to play it safe with a simple slip dress or traditional gown.
Every year, the Met Gala, hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, has a theme and each attendant is expected to don a LEWK inspired by said theme. This year’s theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” called for ensembles inspired by the relationship between handmade and machine-made garments.
Now that you have a little background behind the event, take a look at my favorite looks from the night. (I “judge” based on how well attendees follow the theme. Why wouldn’t you have fun with fashion, especially on a night when the wild and wacky are celebrated?!)
Awards season is over, making this my last red carpet fashion post (sadly.) But what better way to end the season than with a stellar red carpet at the Oscars?! Trust me when I say, the ladies BROUGHT IT this year. Rooney Mara in Givenchy and Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein were my favorite looks of the night. I picked more of my favorites below.
I was a little disappointed in the fashion this year. Cut-outs ruled the carpet, as did black dresses. And apparently, showing as much skin as possible without exposing, ahem, lady parts, is a thing now? No surprise there, though.
In other news, I am officially a 20-something grandma. (See above statements for evidence.)
Taylor Swift received all of the attention for her waist-high skirt slit, shorter ‘do and, of course, 1989. Lady Gaga brought the drama with her David Bowie-inspired look. And Florence Welch stuck to her lovely, whimsical, bohemian ways in a pale pink Gucci number. So, in other words, it was a typical Grammy awards show.
These are my favorite looks from the red carpet.
After Christmas decorations find their places in storage and holiday excitement dwindles, along comes awards season giving me life again. Besides mine and Chris’s birthdays in January, there’s little else to look forward to during the dreary winter months. I relish watching celebrities glide across the red carpet in glistening gowns and jewelry.
So, with awards season officially upon us, here is my first red carpet roundup of 2016: the Golden Globes. Take a look at my favorite dresses.
Another belated red carpet post, I know, but I cannot just ignore the mega fashion event that is the Oscars. No surprise, Emma Stone wore yet another stunning look, and Keira Knightley continued her streak of ethereal pregnancy dresses in a flowy Valentino number. Here are some of my favorite looks from the Oscars 2015 red carpet.

If there’s one award show where the celebs really bring it, sartorially speaking, it’s the Grammys. Musicians never shy away from bold looks. This year’s red carpet did not disappoint. From careful cutouts to sequins allover to unexpected dress choices, the leading ladies of music tapped into their creative sides to flaunt their personal style.
