first-year-wedding-anniversary-gift

Chris and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary last weekend. He surprised me with dinner at Chef and the Farmer in Kinston, NC and an overnight stay at a bed and breakfast in nearby New Bern. It felt like a miniature vacation, which was absolutely blissful. I gave him a print by his favorite local artist in Knoxville. Continue reading “year one, done”

Balter Beerworks in North Knoxville

It seems like every month a new restaurant or bar opens up in Knoxville. No doubt, the surge in breweries and casual-upscale eateries brings lots of foot traffic into downtown Knox. At the risk of sounding too political, these new businesses are great for our city and local economy.

Plus, Chris and I love supporting local businesses and finding excuses to eat and drink. We enjoy trying different foods and tasting wine or beer. So, we spent last weekend doing just that. Continue reading “exploring (mostly) north knoxville”

roan mountain camping

Since the beginning of our relationship, Chris and I wanted to go camping together. Every time we tried to make it happen, though, something came up or our friends couldn’t come with us.

So, when we experienced an unseasonably warm December weekend, we jumped at the opportunity to head outdoors. Our spontaneous decision to go camping turned out to be the relaxing getaway we needed before the holiday rush. Continue reading “roan mountain”

hello, 2016

IMG_4100

It’s been a busy holiday season here at the Miller household, in the best way. Now, with 2016 in full swing, I’m thrilled to report that we’re happy, healthy and ready for the new year.

Chris and I shared our first Christmas together as husband and wife, which meant new traditions and lots of traveling. We spent Christmas Eve and Day with his family, then drove to Nashville for Christmas #2 and New Year’s Eve with mine. We visited with friends, ate too much food and quietly rang in the new year.

2015 was a roller coaster year for us. We’re looking forward to taking it easy in 2016.

One of my goals this year is to write more, be it on the blog or in a journal. I’m notorious for going quiet (sometimes for months) on here, so I’d love to change that by writing more regularly.

In the spirit of getting sh*t done, I plan to write about a DIY project on which we’re currently working. Look out for that post in the next week or so. On delight this year I’ll also wax poetic about our new couch 😁 (coming in early February!), divulge recipes, break down our wedding details and share bits and pieces of our (mostly boring) life.

To see what I’m up to in the meantime, follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!
