Our son, Everett Stokes, arrived at 11:16 p.m. on a stormy October night, just 15 hours after I felt my first contraction. We’re adjusting to life as a family of three pretty well! Some days (and nights) are harder than others, but it’s so wonderful to have him here that we quickly get over the tough parts.
Chris and I are loving getting to know him. I’m actually still in disbelief that he’s ours – our perfect, squeaky, squishy, tiny little man! He loves looking at trees and being outside (like his dad) and eating around the clock (like his mom.) Even at 2:30 a.m. after three diaper changes and multiple feeding sessions, I can’t help but laugh and smile when he looks up at me with a grin or silly expression. Yep, I’m in love.
This time of year always feels special, with palpable excitement for fall and the holiday season. Everett’s arrival gives me another reason to revel in the cozy, cheery mood the year’s final three months bring.
For now, I’m prioritizing family, self-care, rest and my new responsibilities as “mom.” (Gah, that’s weird to say!) I’ll give updates and add new non-baby posts as I have time, but you can see glimpses into my daily life on Instagram in the meantime.
