Amidst the stress of finals and end-of-the-year activities I managed to squeeze in a little DIY project. This old shelf was in my garage for years. I pulled it out of obscurity to be a TV stand in my apartment (with a little makeover.) However, 4 months later the red chipped shelf still looked the same. My mom had some primer leftover from a recent project she did at home so I used that to paint the shelf. So so simple. I can’t believe I put it off so long. The shelf looks absolutely brand new just with a fresh coat of paint. I also taped some pieces of scrapbook paper to the back of the shelf to add color and color up the ugly peeling. Although now I’m thinking I might replace that with some gold wrapping paper to match the gold feet…
I’ve realized with little projects like this, it’s best just to sit down and do it. Don’t put it off and make excuses. My room looks more put-together and complete now. I even hung up an old window over the sink that I’ll use to display pictures. It too had been sitting in my apartment needing attention. Coming back to a cozy, finished apartment after the holidays will be so nice.
I also took a few pics of the apartment all decorated for Christmas :) Our tree looks like a tree from Whoville but we love it anyway. The paper snowflakes are courtesy of the roommate.
I love how you and your roommate decorated, really nice. I wish I could have decorated the room in my apartment but maybe I’ll do that after winter break is over.
